When people get into cryptocurrency they usually think about making money and forget about their money security . This is a reason why people who are new to cryptocurrency lose their money. The truth is, keeping your cryptocurrency safe is just as important as choosing the cryptocurrency to invest in.

In this guide you will learn about the common mistakes people make when it comes to keeping their cryptocurrency safe and how you can avoid making these mistakes to keep your cryptocurrency safe.

Not Keeping Your Key Safe

One of the mistakes people make is not keeping their private key and seed phrase secure. Your private key is like a master key, to your cryptocurrency wallet.

It helps you access and manage your funds. So you must keep your key safe. The same goes for your seed phrase. It is used to restore your wallet. If someone gets their hands on it they can access your funds.

Therefore store your key and seed phrase in a safe place. Use a method to store them. This will help prevent loss or theft of your funds. If someone gets it they can take control of your money.

The best thing to do is to write your words on a piece of paper. Keep it in a place where nobody can find it. Do not share it with anyone no matter what they say. Your secret words are very important so keep them safe your seed phrase.

Another common mistake people make is using passwords that are too weak or using the same password for many different accounts. If one of your accounts gets hacked the hacker can get into your accounts too.

Falling for Fake Scams

There are a lot of scams in the crypto. Scammers are going to make things that look real like websites, emails or messages. They will make these things look like they are from real cryptocurrency companies. The scammers want to trick you into giving them your login information for your cryptocurrency account or your seed phrase for your cryptocurrency wallet. They do this because they want to get your cryptocurrency. The scammers will try to make you think that the websites, emails or messages are, from cryptocurrency companies.

You should always be careful when you are on a website and make sure it is the website before you log in. Do not click on links that you do not know are safe and never give out information on a website that you are not sure is safe.

Keeping All of Your Money on Exchanges

A lot of people who’re new to cryptocurrency keep all of their money on exchanges because it is easy.. Exchanges are not the safest place to keep your money for a long time.

It is better to keep an amount of money on exchanges and keep the rest of your money in a safe wallet like a cold wallet.

Not Using Two-Factor Authentication

Not using two-factor authentication is a mistake. This is because two-factor authentication gives you a layer of protection for your accounts. Two-factor authentication is really important, for keeping your accounts safe. When you use two-factor authentication it is a lot harder for someone to get into your accounts. So you should always use two-factor authentication to protect your accounts.

I think using Google Authenticator and other apps like it’s a lot safer than getting a verification code sent to your phone. When you are dealing with cryptocurrency accounts you should always have two-factor authentication turned on. This is because cryptocurrency accounts are a target for people who want to steal your money so you need to make sure you are using Google Authenticator or something similar to protect yourself. You should have two-factor authentication, on all of your cryptocurrency accounts it is a good idea.

Downloading Apps from Untrusted Sources

People sometimes get apps and software from places that’re not safe. These apps and software can have things, like viruses or malware that can take your information. When you download apps and software from sources that you do not trust the apps and software can have viruses or malware that can steal your information.

You should only download apps and software from websites or trusted stores. You should always read reviews. Check the developers information before you install anything related to cryptocurrency.

Not Updating Your Software

If your software is out of date it can have security problems that hackers can use to get into your accounts. Some people do not update their software because they do not think it is important.

You should always keep your operating system up, to date. Also keep your wallet apps and antivirus software updated. This helps you stay safe from threats.

Using Public WiFi to Access Your Crypto

When you use WiFi to get to your cryptocurrency wallet it is not an idea. The thing is, public WiFi is really easy for bad people to get into. They can hack into it. Steal your cryptocurrency wallet information. Your cryptocurrency wallet is what they are, after.

You should not access your cryptocurrency accounts on WiFi. If you need to you should use an private internet connection or a trusted VPN to add extra protection.

Trusting People You Do Not Know

Some people trust strangers or people they do not know. This is something that bad people can take advantage of. These bad people will often pretend to be experts or support agents to get the trust of people, like you. They want you to think that the scammers are actually experts or support agents so they can trick you. Scammers do this to get the trust of people.

You should never give out your information, passwords or seed phrase to anyone. You should always check information from sources before you do anything.

Conclusion

If you know about these mistakes you can protect yourself from most of the risks in the cryptocurrency world. Keeping your cryptocurrency safe is the important part of being successful, with cryptocurrency. If you are careful and follow the practices you can keep your money safe and enjoy the benefits of cryptocurrency with confidence. Cryptocurrency is a part of the financial world now and cryptocurrency safety is very important. You need to take care of your cryptocurrency to keep it safe. Cryptocurrency safety is not hard you just need to be careful and use your sense.
